Avia Gurman Murphy
I am an interdisciplinary artist, photographer, voice artist, and art director, currently based in East-Clare in Ireland.
In 2000, I graduated from the School of Visual Theatre in Jerusalem, Israel and worked as a producer, voice artist and voice facilitator in Israel and Ireland in various international projects such as ‘Jerusalem Theatre Company’ and ‘Red Moon Ensemble’.
As part of my research in sacred singing traditions, I completed an MA in Ritual Chant and Song from the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance at the University of Limerick in Ireland.
For many years, I dreamt of knowing the camera and discover its mysteries.
Following this dream, I completed a diploma course in Advanced Media and Photography at Limerick College of Further Education.
My versatile and ever-expanding work spans different artistic disciplines, spiritual traditions, and cultures.
I draw inspiration from my Jewish tradition, the wisdom of the magical land of Ireland, and my own ever-changing body, creative voice, and heart.
My photoshoots and creative endeavors are a meditative ritual in which I grow immensely and support the growth of the people who work with me.
Self-love, self-empowerment, and body positivity are at the core of my creative work.
Advocating for peace, connections, intimacy, and beauty through my art is my vision and my prayer for humanity.
